While the topics I write about are many and varied, my writing shares the common goal of helping decision makers harness the latest developments in technology and management to drive business performance.
Subjects have included the business risks of social networking and the challenges facing European companies from counterfeiting in China, both written for the Wall Street Journal Europe.
I have been a freelance contributor to the Financial Times for over a decade, writing regularly for the FT’s long-running and highly successful monthly reports on IT and, most recently, for the FT Connected Business website.
I have writing over 700 articles for the FT on business technology, telecoms and a wide variety of other topics, ranging from management consultancy and risk management through to wind energy, manufacturing and superconductivity.
I have also written for the Times newspaper on subjects such as renewable energy, infrastructure investment and fraud management. See, for example, see this article on wind and marine energy.

The backstory
Digging through the archives, you can find my byline on a long etcetera of business and trade publications including Financial News, Renewable Energy World, Telecommunications, Global Telecoms Business, Computer Weekly, Computing, Infomatics, Traveller and Design News.
During a spell spent living in Italy, I started freelancing for the Financial Times and worked as a stringer for CommunicationsWeek International, writing about Italy’s chaotic telecoms sector. Che casino!
My journalist career began unexpectedly during a holiday in Haiti in 1986, where I covered the flight of dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier for a London-based newspaper.
Despite the demise of the Duvalier regime, Haiti remained in much the same pitiful state as it was back then.Piling tragedy on tragedy, the 2010 earthquake extinguished any hope of the country shaking off its troubled past for years to come. Plus ça change.
